The aim of the competition is to encourage interested and motivated students to enjoy the challenge of non-standard problems. While some of the questions require extended knowledge and responses, the new format aims to give a wide range of students the opportunity to achieve some success. The School Mathematics Competition is for South Australian students in Years 7 - 12. Four papers will be set as indicated below.
Primary of 1 hour for students in Years 7 - (16 questions)
Junior Paper of 1.5 hours for students in Years 7 – 8 (24 questions)
Intermediate Paper of 1.5 hours for students in Years 9 – 10 (24 questions)
Senior Paper of 1.5 hours for students in Years 11 – 12 (24 questions)
Note: Year 7's may do either paper Primary or Junior
