International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM)
Crimson Education Taiwan
This is a worldwide synthetic biology competition that was initially aimed at undergraduate university students, but has since expanded to include divisions for high school students, entrepreneurs, and community laboratories, as well as 'overgraduates'. The iGEM competition gives students the opportunity to push the boundaries of synthetic biology by tackling everyday issues facing the world. Made up of primarily university students, multidisciplinary teams work together to design, build, test, and measure a system of their own design using interchangeable biological parts and standard molecular biology techniques. Every year nearly 6,000 people dedicate their summer to iGEM and then come together in the fall to present their work and compete at the annual Jamboree. At the annual ‘iGEM Jamboree’ teams from all continents meet in Boston for a scientific conference where they present their projects to each other and to a scientific jury of ~120 judges. AIPC Pandora Solidary Summer
Crimson Education Spain
AIPC Pandora is an organisation seeking to foster a sense of global citizenship among youths in Spain. As part of its work, AIPC Pandora's Solidary Summer offers Spain residents the opportunity of participating in an international development project in several international locations. These development projects are within the themes of Education, Community Inclusion, Children and Women's Rights or Environment and Sustainability. Volunteering experiences, particularly of the international sort, can sometimes read as shrewdly calculated and somewhat exploitative on a college application. However, early-age participation in one of these programmes can significantly boost a student's emotional intelligence and critical thinking, besides bolstering in communication skills. GamerCamp Málaga
Crimson Education Gamer Camp - Campamento de Videojuegos, Málaga, Spain
While eSports are on the rise as a competitive discipline, associating with videogames would still seem slightly heterodox on most college applications. This said, controlled participation at an early age can demonstrate abilities from teamwork and the ability to perform under pressure all the way to strategic planning in certain circumstances; there are also various technical skills to be picked up. Málaga's GamerCamp offers introductory experiences in videogame development, digital design and streamed content production, activities which may inform valuable aspects of academic work such as creative writing and presentation structuring. The camp is affiliated to EVAD, Andalusia's leading tertiary education institution for videogames and the digital arts. For more information visit here .
