SIMI organises an annual essay competition. The focus of this essay on mediation. This is part of SIMI’s Mission to “stimulate and facilitate the development and growth of mediation through research and innovation”.
The top entries from each year will be compiled and collated into a book to be edited and published by SIMI, titled “Contemporary Issues In Mediation” or CIIM. The overall objective of the competition is to encourage interest in mediation research and writing, as well as to develop a larger pool of mediation academia in Singapore.

Entries should be written in Microsoft Word format and adhere to the following:
Total length should be between 2700 - 3300 words, not including citations and references.
Font type Arial, size 12, double-spaced, normal margin.
All essays should be written in English.
All citations and references to be put in footnotes.
The essay should use the citation guide adopted by the Singapore Academy of Law. The guide can be found here.
