Competition Skill Building

The Competição USP de Conhecimentos (CUCo) is an academic challenge for students from public high schools in the state of São Paulo. The program seeks to encourage public school students to take the University of São Paulo (USP) entrance exam as well as help them to strengthen their academic knowledge in the disciplines evaluated during university admissions processes.

The competition is made up of two phases. The first is an online test made up of 18 multiple choice questions on general knowledge, science, and mathematics. Those students with the best performance on the first phase will be invited to participate in a second, in-person phase, where they will take another test with 45 multiple choice questions, 15 on Portuguese grammar, 15 on mathematics, 10 on science, and 5 related to current events. Students from all three years of high school with the best scores on the second phase will receive certificates, gain access to video classes that prepare for university entrance exams, and be invited to visit research laboratories at USP. The students with the highest scores in the final year of high school will be invited to take the University of São Paulo entrance exam with the registration fee exempted.
