Investigate the effect of paper saving incentives on reducing printer paper usage in school.
Stage 0 (21/04 - 14/05): recruit 1-2 student organisers from each participating school.
Stage 1 (01/05 - 14/05): survey students at participating schools about wasteful practices and potential improvements. Using results from the survey and prior research, devise 3-5 paper saving incentives to be tested.
Stage 2 (17/05 - 30/06): divide the faculty at each participating school into the control group and the treatment group. Subject the treatment group to 1 paper saving incentive. E.g. a competition between the participants on who is using the least amount of paper. Monitor both groups’ paper usage through printer history, purchase history, or participant self-report, based on what’s available.
Stage 3 (01/07-01/08): finish the paper and submit for publication.
Good practice for your empirical and leadership skills.
Impressive addition to your resume.
Not too much work. We expect the 4 non-optional tasks to take approx. 20 hours and you can get 1-2 helpers in your school to help you.
