CircuSaver Goal

Investigate the effect of paper saving incentives on reducing printer paper usage in school.

Timeline

  • Stage 0 (21/04 - 14/05): recruit 1-2 student organisers from each participating school.

  • Stage 1 (01/05 - 14/05): survey students at participating schools about wasteful practices and potential improvements. Using results from the survey and prior research, devise 3-5 paper saving incentives to be tested.

  • Stage 2 (17/05 - 30/06): divide the faculty at each participating school into the control group and the treatment group. Subject the treatment group to 1 paper saving incentive. E.g. a competition between the participants on who is using the least amount of paper. Monitor both groups’ paper usage through printer history, purchase history, or participant self-report, based on what’s available.

  • Stage 3 (01/07-01/08): finish the paper and submit for publication.

Responsibilities

  1. Persuade your educational institution to implement a paper-saving initiative.
  2. Disseminate the survey using professional marketing materials and daily announcements.
  3. Develop and refine paper-saving strategies based on received survey feedback.
  4. Gather and analyze data related to paper consumption within your school.
  5. (Optional) Conduct interviews to gain further insights.
  6. (Optional) Contribute to the writing and reviewing of the research paper.
