Opening STEM Tutor Positions at Sciencious Columbia Tutoring Program

This position provides students, who are interested in sharing their STEM skills and knowledge with children in Colombia and are able to communicate in Spanish, a unique opportunity to enhance leadership, organization, and collaboration abilities. Accepted students will have a chance to teach their STEM areas of expertise virtually/in person to matched students by communicating with the students regarding their needs and preparing teaching materials (i.e. projects, PowerPoint presentations, videos, etc.). Furthermore, you will have an opportunity to work with the executive board, which consists of passionate STEM tutors and the director, in Colombia through regular meetings in order to seek ways to improve the quality of and outreach of the program.

• Preferably reside in Colombia, and speak Spanish fluently
• Have a strong, in-depth background in a particular STEM field
• Demonstrate empathy and patience
• Have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Have excellent management abilities and are able to engage students with the subject matter.
• Possess organization skills
• Presentations, worksheets, videos, and effective teaching methods that cater to each student.

At least one 1-hour lesson per week (based on the need of the student) and 3 hours in preparing teaching materials and board meetings weekly
