The New Zealand Chess Congress for 2021 will be held in Auckland and consists of five big events over 11 days for chess players of any nationality.
Entrants compete with other chess enthusiasts:
NZ Open Championship (14-22 January)
NZ Major Open (14-22 January)
NZ Junior Open (morning games - 15-20 January)
NZ Rapid Championship (23-34 January)
NZ Lightning Championship (24 January)
Players compete for $10,000 in prize money, as part of The Poison Pawn Grand Prix in association with D & D Financial Consultants Ltd. The Congress celebrates chess playing at the highest level and brings together enthusiasts from around the world at the ultimate chess event.
