Description

The Secondary Schools Composition Competition is held by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) as part of the Inspire Partnership Programme. This is an exciting opportunity for young composers to showcase their work and develop their skills. This is a prized opportunity for secondary school students to receive exposure to the professional musical world and develop their talent beyond school.

The entrants for the 2020 competition are set with the task of composing a 90-second piece of music for a full orchestra. They’ll be judged on technique, originality and potential in order to be selected to workshop their piece with the APO at the Our Voice Workshop.

Two entries will be selected by the University of Auckland and APO Communities Composer, Ryan Youens, to participate in the Our Voice Orchestral Workshop. At the workshop, their piece will be rehearsed and performed by a live orchestra and they will have the opportunity to work with APO’s Communities Composer
