Description

The Developing Areas Research Group of the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) runs an annual essay competition in memory of David W. Smith. 

Year 12 students from across the UK are invited to write an essay of up to 1500 words on the following title:

In reference to one city in the Global South, investigate and evaluate in what ways different groups make claims to public spaces?

The prize is £100 voucher from Routledge Publishers. 

DARG will not be running an essay competition in 2020, but will be looking to reinstate the competition in 2021. Details will be posted here in due course.
