The Atlantis Short Story Contest is an international competition for unpublished English literary work. Contestants are invited to produce short stories, either fiction or based on true events, individually or as two authors per story. There are no restrictions on theme or genre, and contestants are free to produce entries between 300 and 2,500 words which are judged anonymously. Submissions are judged based on criteria that include plot, character, and theme, among others.
The Atlantis Short Story Contest is not only designed for experienced writers; beginner writers are also strongly encouraged to submit their work. The contest values a philosophy of cultivating talent and nurturing young writers; contestants are not only competing for cash prizes, but also sophisticated feedback to help them grow.
First Prize includes a $300 cash prize, in-depth feedback, and promotion; Second Prize includes a $100 cash prize, in-depth feedback, and promotion, and Third Prize includes a $50 cash prize, in-depth feedback, and promotion. The Top 15 writers are also awarded with valuable in-depth feedback to help them grow as writers, and Top 40 writers have their name and short story title posted on the website. Detailed critique is available for all participants; the Contest aims to nurture talent in addition to rewarding top writers.
