The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition, under the Royal Commonwealth Society, was launched by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall as a chance for all young Commonwealth citizens and residents to share ideas and develop their creative skills in the spirit of multi-cultural and global connection aross the Commonwealth.
Students submit writing entries inspired by prescribed topics for the Senior and Junior Categories. For 2019, all topics relate to a central theme of A Connected Commonwealth; inviting students to explore how they can work towards positive change across the Commonwealth by using cultural, technological, and environmental connections. The process of writing engages students to consider the potential of the Commonwealth in strengthening the links between citizens in a globalised and interconnected world.
