About us

PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) is a nonprofit and NGO operating in the Kabarole district, Rwenzori region, Uganda. We advocate for the protection of children, youth, and women’s rights through the provision of prevention and multi-disciplinary intervention in investigation and information dissemination to have a healthy, violence-free society.

PLANE aims to undertake collective action for promoting general health and reproductive health awareness campaigns on family planning, HIV/AIDS, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR), education for children, and access to social and health services, among others.

PLANE was founded in 2010 and is on record with the Uganda National NGO Board (No. 10895). The organization has developed potential capacity and recognition in enhancing health promotion programs, advocacy for the protection of children’s rights, youth, and teenage mothers empowerment by caring for and improving the lives of vulnerable children.

Age Range

As a volunteer science teacher, you would be responsible for creating lesson plans, assigning homework, giving tests, and keeping an accurate record of each child's progress.

Despite progress in reducing barriers to secondary Science education, Uganda still has a limited number of qualified teachers, particularly in the fields of Math and Science (mainly, Biology, Chemistry and Physics). PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) and their stakeholders have recognized the need for students to develop skills in these fields to support the development of problem-solving skills both in and out of the classroom.

In response to this, PLANE Science Education project emphasizes hands-on learning, extracurricular activities, and community involvement in student learning to boost student achievement and encourage them to become self-reliant problem solvers.
