About us

PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) is a nonprofit and NGO operating in the Kabarole district, Rwenzori region, Uganda. We advocate for the protection of children, youth, and women’s rights through the provision of prevention and multi-disciplinary intervention in investigation and information dissemination to have a healthy, violence-free society. 

PLANE aims to undertake collective action for promoting general health and reproductive health awareness campaigns on family planning, HIV/AIDS, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR), education for children, and access to social and health services, among others.

PLANE was founded in 2010 and is on record with the Uganda National NGO Board (No. 10895). The organization has developed potential capacity and recognition in enhancing health promotion programs, advocacy for the protection of children’s rights, youth, and teenage mothers empowerment by caring for and improving the lives of vulnerable children.

Are you good at writing and creating content, and do you enjoy writing and content creation? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of local people? Are you motivated by working with smart and talented individuals who are creating a better world? Can you commit  2- 5 hours a week, working remotely on your own schedule with our team? Are you willing to cooperate and work as a team with other volunteers and interns? Are you good at creating content and writing on health, human rights, Gender-Based Violence, adolescents and sanitation, hygiene, and environmental conservation? Are you good at creating and writing poems and inspirational messages for upper classes /adolescents?  If so, this is a great opportunity and we would love to work with you to help develop your unique talents.

  1. Social Security (Child Rights Protection and Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV Prevention).
  2. Education (Early Childhood Learning, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Education) for vulnerable children.
  3. Health (HIV/ AIDS and Adolescence /Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR).
  4. Economic Empowerment for Young Mothers (Vocational training, Village Savings & Loan Associations (VSLA and Financial Literacy).
  5. Peace Building and Conflict Resolution
  6. Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene

Tasks:

  • Write new action content to appear on PLANE website, blog, and social media.
  • Research and validate content sources to established standards.
  • Source photography and additional digital design resources to complement the writing.
  • Coordinate with other creators to ensure a top-quality end product.
  • Act as an editor for the organization's website to help it develop something even better.
  • Review and edit the website content to ensure it represents the values and vision of the organization.

Time Commitment

MINIMUM 3-5h a week for 2 months (otherwise won't get a certificate)
