Rostrum Voice of Youth

Rostrum Australia is an association of public speaking clubs, founded on 21 July 1930. Rostrum has organised the Voice of Youth speaking competition since 1975 to contribute to the welfare and personal growth of Australian youth.

Voice of Youth speaking competition is a speech competition for secondary and primary school youths. Participants will prepare and present a speech on one of the set topics for the year, topics are given ahead of time.

The competition is divided into Junior and Senior Divisions. Junior students must be at least 11 and in years 7,8 or 9 as at 1st January. Senior students must be under 18 years of age and in years 10, 11 or 12 at 1st January.

Seniors speak for eight minutes and Juniors for six minutes.

The Competition is open to Secondary School Students who meet the age requirements and is conducted in Senior and Junior divisions. Many schools conduct their own competitions to determine the students who will enter the Rostrum event.
