As a member of USTDA’s Global Climate Partnership, the U.S. Department of State is proud to help put the world on a sustainable climate pathway using American technology made by American workers.

Arlington, VA – Today, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency announced a call for initial proposals as part of its Global Partnership for Climate-Smart Infrastructure to support the development of clean energy and transportation infrastructure projects in developing and middle-income countries. Overseas project sponsors and U.S. companies are invited to propose project preparation activities for USTDA’s grant funding support, including feasibility studies, technical assistance and pilot projects, that advance the Agency’s dual mission of promoting U.S. jobs through exports and sustainable infrastructure in emerging markets. Details related to USTDA’s submission requirements may be found here.

“When President Biden launched our initiative at the Leaders Summit on Climate, he said that nations that work together to invest in the cleaner economy will reap rewards for their citizens. That is precisely the motivation behind our Global Climate Partnership,” said Enoh T. Ebong, USTDA’s Acting Director. “Through this call for proposals, we intend to support climate-smart energy and transportation projects that create good-paying U.S. jobs and support the development of clean, quality infrastructure overseas. As the President said, these are the sort of partnerships that are going to be good for all of us.”

USTDA seeks a wide range of clean energy proposals in areas including but not limited to large-scale renewable energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, advanced nuclear technologies, distributed renewable energy, energy efficiency, smart grid, carbon capture and storage, and industrial decarbonization projects.

USTDA also seeks a wide range of clean transportation proposals in areas including but not limited to sustainable ports and maritime transportation, zero-emissions shipping, electrification of surface transportation, intelligent transportation systems, sustainable alternative fuels, sustainable aviation, clean mass transit and modal shifting.

The Agency will evaluate each initial proposal to assess the strength of the offeror, as well as the project’s potential for U.S. exports, potential for financing and implementation, and relevance to its Global Climate Partnership.

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency helps companies create U.S. jobs through the export of U.S. goods and services for priority infrastructure projects in emerging economies.  USTDA links U.S. businesses to export opportunities by funding project preparation and partnership building activities that develop sustainable infrastructure and foster economic growth in partner countries.
