The NAQT Quiz Bowl Championship is a standardised competition that takes place in North America and various cities in Asia for middle school, high school, community college, and college students. Students compete in the fast-paced question-and-answer format game covering all areas of knowledge, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports, and more.
The competition is based on a "buzzer system" that lets players interrupt the reading of a question when they know the answer, adding an element of excitement and competitiveness to a recall game about knowing facts. "Tossup" questions are answered individually, and earns the team a chance at a three-part "bonus" question - worth more points and allows collaboration.
