The Midland MRI National Youth Art Award is a prestigious competition held every year for young New Zealand artists.
All young artists in New Zealand between the ages of 15 and 27 are invited to enter this significant competition. This award is open to independent artists as well as students who are prepared to jump the boundaries of their curriculum.
Hamilton has been the host for this award for the past few years, the only award in New Zealand exclusive to talented young artists. Prizes totalling $4500 along with Gordon Harris People’s Choice award.
The finalists will have their work on show to the public, for a month, at ArtsPost Gallery, in Hamilton, New Zealand. These finalists create an outstanding exhibition which showcases the immense creative talent present in our young people today.
All original visual art work that is unique, imaginative, delightful and thought-provoking is welcome. Work will be limited to 1.2m X 1.2m and will have a 10kg weight limit.
This exhibition is a celebration of New Zealand’s talented young people, recognising their contribution to our visual arts communities whilst simultaneously providing a platform for opportunity and further engagement.
