The Performing Arts Competitions Association of New Zealand Inc (PACANZ) acts as the parent body for New Zealand's performing arts competitions societies. The organization's vision is to encourage, foster and promote the practice and appreciation of performing arts in New Zealand.
PACANZ acts as a platform for young performing artists to measure themselves through competitions across various art-forms that are held throughout the year. Each year, the National Young Performer Awards invites some of the top performers in eight different art-forms to compete at a national level. Since the inaugural Awards in 1977, more than 130 Awards have been presented at competitions that have hosted thousands of aspiring performing artists.
