Best Buddies International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The organization has grown to reach more than 1,500 college, high school, and middle school campuses across the US and internationally.
As a student, one of the best ways to get involved is to become a Peer Buddy at a Best Buddies chapter in your school or local community. Being a Peer Buddy means you will be paired with a peer with IDD that has similar interests with you and you will be committing to create and maintain a friendship with your peer. All pairs are expected to talk once a week and see each other twice a month to do something you both enjoy.
This is a great opportunity for students who want to contribute their time and effort to a powerful movement.
To get started, complete a membership application online and Best Buddies will let you know the best ways you can get involved.
