General Tutoring Skill Building

Joining your school's or a local magazine/journal as a writer is a great extracurricular activity for students looking to gain tangible writing experience outside of their school work. As a writer, students may have the opportunity to write about various topics that they are passionate about and may have a chance to get their work published. Students not only get to write; they also have a chance to have a voice at their school or local community.

This can be a great opportunity for students to discover if they want to pursue a career in writing while developing their own writing skills by learning from more experienced writers.

To join, get in contact with your school's or a local magazine/journal to ask if they have openings for new writers. Be prepared to have writing samples ready to show.
