This Pandemic Policython is an international, online competition from August 28th to the 30th for hundreds of students to propose policy-based solutions to today's most pressing challenges. Over the course of 48 hours, competitors, in teams of one to four members, will hear from community partners, federal agencies, and international organizations, receive guidance from leading academics whilst writing proposals, and submit their policy memos to policymakers.
Applications are open to all, however, winning proposals should show a depth of knowledge and understanding. Participants will be able to engage with mentors in office hours giving them the opportunity to polish their proposal.
In order to make the event accessible to all, there is no cost to participate.
Anyone in high school, university, or even research with an interest in public policy and/or the process of policy development is welcome to participate. No prior policy-related experience is necessary. The event is open to students all around the world.
However, the winning proposals will show a depth of knowledge and understanding.
The Pandemic Policython will run over a 48 hour period in which participants will have the opportunity to engage with mentors in office hours and polish their proposals.
Before the Policython, participants are advised to inform themselves of current world events and problems allowing them to craft a relevant and comprehensive proposal.
