Toastmasters International is a worldwide community with the mission to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. Toastmasters clubs are at the heart of a member's journey. It’s the place where members meet to practice, learn, grow, mentor and share. Individuals who aim to practice their public speaking, improve their communication and build leadership skills can do so by joining Toastmasters. Members are also invited to participate in regular competitions - for instance, each year, the Toastmasters International Convention culminates in the final round of the International Speech Contest, where the World Champion of Public Speaking is chosen. In this exciting event, 10 contestants from all over the world deliver 5- to 7-minute speeches that are evaluated by a panel of experienced Toastmasters. After a year of competing in club, area, district and semifinal competitions, these contestants have advanced for the chance to win this prestigious accolade.

Toastmasters membership is available for all, internationally (ages 18+).
Members pay international dues of $45 USD every six months, plus a new member fee of $20 USD.
There are no specific skillsets that are mandatory in order to become a, however, in terms of competing in Toastmasters competitions, individuals are expected to have strong public speaking, communication and articulation skills.
The amount of time committed to Toastmasters events or competitions is at the discretion of the member.
All new members of a club, whether New, Transfer, Reinstatement, or Dual, must fill in an official Toastmasters Application for Membership. This form must be signed (by hand or electronically) by both the new member and a Club Officer, and the new member should affirm they have read and understood the Agreement, Release and Promise information on page 2 of the form. The promise does not have to be read in detail at the induction ceremony, but should be referred to.
The new member also has the opportunity to nominate the person who they consider had the most influence in their joining; that person is their sponsor and receives membership building credit for their sponsorship.
An authorised club officer must login to the World Headquarters website using their personal login and password to process new member applications directly. Payment of fees can only be made by credit card. This can be a club member's credit card, or the club's credit card if one is available. Retain the signed Membership form in the club records.
