Description

A one of its kind conference brought to you by the Harvard Undergraduate Global Education Movement (HGEM) and The Global Citizen Education Group, the 2020 HGEM Innovation Challenge (HIC) is taking place online from 27th July to 30th July. This is an unparalleled opportunity for students to develop their leadership and social entrepreneurship skills while better understanding the complexity of real-world problems.

Delegates may choose to join one of these two tracks centered on the COVID-19 pandemic – Public Health and Education - to engage in track-specific debate and seminar sessions featuring influential leaders from academia, business, and government. After various rounds of discussions and workshops under the mentorship of Harvard undergraduate students, delegates will also get a chance to work in teams on proposals designed to tackle pressing global issues.

If you are passionate about making a difference, are looking to boost your public speaking skills and want to grow as a leader, attending a conference with like-minded peers at a Harvard Student-Led Innovation Challenge is an opportunity not to be missed, and one you can take from the comfort of your own home!

You can also look forward to a virtual tour of the Harvard College campus and find out more about the college application process from Harvard students themselves, through panel discussions or over virtual meals! For more information, please refer to the conference website, or drop us an email at contact@theglobalcitizen.sg.

Competitiveness

Through discourse, public speaking, and teamwork, HIC strives to provide delegates with an enriching experience; one they can take from the comfort of their own homes. Along with the exploration of the complexity of these real-world problems, delegates can find themselves tackling these issues through the innovation of tangible entrepreneurial solutions in small teams, and creating an impactful “Solution Proposal”. Students will be challenged in open discussion sessions about their ideas, before presenting a final round proposal at the end of the conference.

However, academics are not all that HIC SEA 2020 offers, and delegates will have a chance to interact with peers from across Southeast Asia in more informal settings during social events and panels. Additionally, the conference will feature many influential guest speakers, representing social entrepreneurs, academic scholars, ambassadors, and government officials. Not to forget, delegates will also be provided with networking opportunities through virtual meals with Harvard alums, Harvard-led college panels, and virtual social events.

Our motto, “Think Big. Dream Big.” aims to inspire students to free themselves from limitations of circumstance, grow rapidly as leaders, and create change on a global scale.
