Description

Volunteer with ESMA

ESMA needs your talents and skills. It takes a lot to keep our shelter and activities going, and we depend on contributions from the community. Share your abilities and help us to keep ESMA strong and effective. How can you help us? Here are some of the most important ways you can volunteer:

  • Socializing with animals (spend time with the cats and dogs at the shelter)
  • Grooming animals at the shelter
  • Foster parenting (temporarily foster an animal at your home)
  • Shelter cleaning and organization
  • Flight parenting (act as a courier to an adopted cat or dog flying outside of Egypt)

To find out more or sign up please fill out our volunteer form and email Mona Khalil at mona@esmaegypt.org or Bahra Fahmy at bahrafahmy@gmail.com

The Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals (ESMA) was formed in late 2007 in response to a horrific shooting spree of street dogs by the Egyptian government. A small group of Egyptians and expatriates came together to fight this notion of population control and to protect and rescue the animals in immediate danger. ESMA is a charitable organization registered in Egypt (No. 3059/2007) that operates a shelter and adoption center.  We currently house over 500 dogs, almost 500 cats, and 2 donkeys.  We are committed to improving animal welfare in Egypt in all areas of need, including: dogs and cats; donkeys and horses; animals in the Cairo zoo; and pet shops.
