The New Zealand Olympiad in Informatics provides an opportunity for students excited by computer science and programming at high school to come together and improve their abilities beyond what is offered at high school while meeting like minded students passionate about the topic. NZOI gives students an opportunity to compete to be one of four selected for New Zealand's national olympiad squad that will compete at the International Olympiad in Informatics.
Students can participate by entering into the New Zealand Informatics Competition, a series of programming contests, held every year. Each contest, students are given 3 hours to view and solve a set of problems by writing computer programs. The top students that compete in the New Zealand Informatics Competition may be invited to attend the January Informatics Training Camp. During this camp, students expand their programming skills while competing for a spot on the Olympiad squad.
The New Zealand Olympiad in Informatics is a great opportunity for students to discover their passion for computer science, and develop skills that will have a long-lasting impact on their future career.
