The Brazilian Informatics Olympiad is an initiative of the Brazilian Computer Science Society that aims to encourage students' interest in computer sciences and sciences in general; provide an introduction to logical and computational thinking, as well as to programming for high school students; induce new challenges for young minds and identify young talents and promising future computer science professionals. Students who do well on OBI exam can be invited to participate in computer science and programming courses promoted by the Olympiads and will be encouraged and guided towards careers in technology. The top performers on the national exam are invited to compete for spots to represent Brazil in the international Olympiad.

Top performing students receive medals and are offered advanced courses accordingly to their age/level. There are three elimination stages.
There is no registration fee.
Participants must have excellent problem-solving skills, be competent in programming and computing.
There are only three test days.
