The Brazilian Chemistry Olympiad (OBQ) is a competitive event that happens once a year. Students awarded First places in the competition will receive a trophy and top 10 best students will be offered a Further Development and Excellence course in Chemistry, taught by postgraduate teachers from the best universities in the country. Students who take part in this competition will also have the chance to develop their chemistry knowledge and be encouraged to maybe pursue an undergraduate degree in this field, as well as have the chance to qualify for international competitions.

To be a part of the national Olympiad, students must participate in the state olympiads and qualify in the top 25.

1. Selection of eligible students at their school
2. School registration (students must first participate on their State's Chemistry Olympiad to be able to proceed to the National Chemistry Olympiad)
