The COBIS Student World Debate Competition brings students from COBIS Schools across the globe together for three days of debate on topical issues.

The COBIS Student World Debate Competition will take place 7-9 February 2019 in Bucharest, Romania; the competition will be hosted by the International British School of Bucharest.
Schools can bring teams of 4-6 students who are currently in Key Stage 4 and 5. The students must belong to a member school of the Council of British International Schools.

The standard is very high, especially for schools in the UAE, which perform very well. Previously JC and DC have been winners and runners-up of this competition.
The cost depends highly on where the competition is held. When it was in the UAE, cost for MENA students would be much lower than this year, since it is being held in Romania. That being said, schools may be able to subsidize certain costs.
Registration fee: £295 per school
Participant fee: 395 euros per person (fee applies to each student or staff member)

The student must be a solid, experienced debater who is comfortable making logical and compelling arguments on topics without prior preparation.
The student must practice debate presentation, logic, communication skills, and also be well-versed in current events. They must learn how to weigh and crystallize arguments.
Online registration was open from 5 September 2018 until midday (BST) on 21 September 2018. On 24 September 2018, all registered schools will be entered into a lottery draw for the 16 places available.
The event is on the 7-9 of February 2019.
The event changes location each year.
