The UGO Gerhard-Wachsmann-Prize is held every two years, by the University Society Oldenburg (UGO), in memory of Gerhard Wachsmann. It includes a prize worth € 2,000 for outstanding dissertations. This UGO award honors outstanding scientific work of young members and graduates of the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg. The selection is based on suggestions from professors. A self-proposal is not possible.
In addition to a copy of the habilitation, doctorate or exam thesis, two opinions and a recommendation are to be submitted stating why the proposed work is so excellent within the scope of their field of expertise. The board decides on the winners of the award.
Only one thesis is selected from hundreds of applicants.
There are no costs involved with the application for this prize.
Applicants for this award must present doctorates completed in the last two years that are outstanding in the fields of humanities, social sciences or cultural studies.
The work submitted for this competition involves several years worth of conducted research.
The selection is based on suggestions from professors. A self-proposal is not possible. The proposed promotions must have been completed no later than 31 December of the previous year.
