The Society for Computer Science in Agriculture, Forestry and Food Industry (GIL) is a scientific society for the promotion of agricultural informatics. Agricultural computer science is an applied computer science that deals with the design, use and evaluation of information systems in the agriculture, forestry and food industry. These information systems will help decision-makers, companies and organizations (including governmental and non-governmental institutions) to carry out their tasks and achieve their goals.
The department Max-Eyth-Gesellschaft Agrartechnik of the Association of German Engineers (VDI-MEG) annually awards the Max Eyth Young Talent Award. The winner is awarded for the best degree in agricultural engineering (Bachelor, Master or Diploma). The submission is open to university professors who represent the field of agricultural engineering or who supervise an agricultural subject of a thesis. To participate in the call for proposals, an opinion showing the particular importance of the work in agricultural engineering and three copies of the final paper are required. The award is accompanied by a public award and a cash bonus of € 600.
Every year, the four best bachelors, masters or diploma theses in the field of agricultural engineering receive the Max Eyth Young Talent Prize. The prize is awarded by the Association of German Engineers (VDI).
Only one young scientist is selected from hundreds of applicants.
There are no costs involved with the application for this prize.

The work submitted for this competition involves several years worth of conducted research.
