The Ernst Kuntze Prize serves to promote young scientists and practitioners for work and inventions that lead to practical improvements in the work areas of the association.
In recognition of the great merit that Dr.-Ing. Eh Ernst Kuntze, President of the Sewage Technology Association eV from 1969 to 1985, has acquired the development and reputation of ATV and DWA in Germany and abroad, the DWA donated the Ernst Kuntze Prize.The DWA first awarded the prize, named after its longtime president Ernst Kuntze, in 1988. He distinguishes works and inventions that lead to significant improvements in the work areas of the association.
If, in the opinion of the jury, there are several outstanding works, in addition to the prize up to two prizes can be awarded with a cash prize of 2,000 EUR. Works in question must serve the improvement of wastewater engineering, in particular also works to improve the operation of wastewater plants and its safety. Certificate and amount of EUR 5,000; a commendation is endowed with 2,000 EUR.
Only one young scientist is selected from hundreds of applicants.
There are no costs involved with the application for this prize.
Applicants must produce work that specifically pertains to the field of improvement of wastewater engineering, in particular also works to improve the operation of wastewater plants and its safety.
The work submitted for this competition involves several years worth of conducted research.
Complete applications for the Ernst Kuntze Prize must include:
- information on the name, date of birth, curriculum vitae and address of the applicant,
- the work underlying the application or description of the invention,
- brief description of the technical, economic and environmental significance especially for sewage technology as well as for water and environmental protection in general,
- a sworn statement that the submitted work is made by the applicant himself.
