The Assumption Thailand debate fosters an environment for critical thinking skills, communication, and enhancing students' abilities to structure and organise thoughts.

Over 1000+ students in 40+ teams typically attend, however all students are able to participate internationally. There are no formal criteria that must be met prior to competing, as long as all entrants have paid and registered.
$125 USD per person for local teams (3 nights)
$159 USD per person for international teams (4 nights).
Additional transport costs are subject to variability depending on where the contestant is travelling from.
There are technically no pre-requisite skillsets required for initial participation, however in order to succeed in the championship it is desirable for individuals to possess essential critical thinking skills – the ability to make reasoned and well thought out arguments in addition to questioning the evidence behind a particular stance or conclusion. In addition to this, it would be beneficial to have strong articulation, speech and public speaking skills.
The championship does not involve prior elimination rounds or tests leading up to the event, however, it is advised that students devote time for debating practice (at their discretion).
The debate open itself is a 3-4 day event
The application process involves registering in person at the VME Building on Assumption University campus. If you fail to show up for the registration and late registration you will not be allowed to participate during the tournament. Those who haven’t paid or have deficit to be cleared would need to prepare their money in THB only and pay upfront to the University Finance.
