The GDCh Division of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology hold an annual prize for outstanding scientific work in the field of environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology. The Department of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology of the GDCh deals with the fate of chemicals in the environment (environmental chemistry) - their pathways, their distribution and their transformation in the compartments soil, water, air - and their effect on organisms and habitats (ecotoxicology). The topic is extremely interdisciplinary and a wide field of research and activity for chemists, biologists, geoscientists, lawyers, engineers and scientists of other related disciplines.
The work can be submitted by the author themselves or by third parties - a scientific publication (from the past two years, peer-review journal). The first or main author should have a doctorate, but the work to be awarded should not have been published more than two years after the doctorate. Included in this prestigious award is not only a certificate but prize money of 1,000 euros, donated by the GDCh Division of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology, which the award winner can use at their own discretion. A panel of experts appointed by the board of the section decides on the award.
Only one young scientist is selected from hundreds of applicants.
There are no costs involved in the application for this award.
Applicants for this award must display original and groundbreaking research in the field of chemicals in the environment (environmental chemistry) - their pathways, their distribution and their transformation in the compartments soil, water, air - and their effect on organisms and habitats (ecotoxicology).
The work submitted for this competition involves several years worth of conducted research (tertiary study included).
The informal proposal, which should contain a short justification, must be accompanied by a CV, a publication list and the publication itself in electronic format (pdf document). If an author proposes himself, the support letter from a mentor must be enclosed.
