The Allianz Umweltstiftung launched the German Climate Prize to reward schools' active commitment to climate protection. It is aimed at motivating students and teachers to dedicate themselves to the pressing issue of climate protection with fun and positive engagement.
The German Climate Prize is awarded annually and consists of five equivalent awards, each endowed with 10,000 euros. In addition, 15 recognition awards of € 1,000 each will be awarded. In addition to this, a festive award ceremony and a visit to the Federal Chancellery await the winning teams.

Participation is open to all. However, it is competitive in the sense that there are many applicants. For the 2019 award, over 100 teams with a total of more than 6,000 active students applied with various climate protection projects.
There are no associated costs with applying for this award.
There are no prior skillsets required to participate in this competition.
Participation is flexible in terms of time - therefore the amount of time dedicated to the competition project(s) is at the discretion of the participant.
