CTB is a social innovation challenge focusing on research and community implementation. Through comprehensive online learning and rigorous academic research conducted on a topic of interest, participants bring their ideas to reality, and make a consequential community impact through independent projects. The CTB challenge helps high school students think big and start small, raising college readiness, cultivating a breadth of skills, and generating a strong and robust talent pool. Since its founding, CTB has worked with over 100 colleges and institutions, striving to ignite a passion for research and innovation among all of its participants. With over 300 topics to choose from, encompassing a wide array of disciplines and interests, they believe student participants have the capability to make a demonstrable impact on some of the world’s most complex problems. As students “Think Big,” they identify a problem in their community and formulate a research question, using a variety of sources and collecting data to generate a well-constructed research project that will provide a meaningful foundation for impactful community action.
CTB does not stop on paper, the ultimate goal is encouraging participants to apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world context, through a carefully designed community action project that exerts a genuine impact on the world around them. Be it through online applications, artistic initiatives, public outreach, or business planning, participants are challenged to design truly applicable implementations. Through trial and error, continuous reflection, and perseverance, participants have the opportunity to produce a measurable community impact and make a difference in the lives of others.
