The New Zealand Schools’ Debating Council has been promoting and coordinating debating in New Zealand’s secondary schools since 1988. Every year, hundreds of students take part in competitions and events.
The Council is also responsible for selecting, coaching, and supporting the New Zealand Schools’ Debating team which competes at the annual World Schools Debating Championships. The teams are selected at each tournament to represent each region at the National Finals of the New Zealand Schools’ Debating Championships held annually in Wellington.
