This peer-to-peer project will provide the student with the opportunity to experience the District Health Board at the forefront of the action. Selected students will have the opportunity to shadow a house officer who rotates in the areas of emergency medicine, general surgery, neurosurgery and surgical relief. Therefore covering a variety of areas and providing a taste of reality to the student.
This peer-to-peer opportunity will provide the chosen student with exposure to New Zealand's medical systems and the chance to partake in achieving a common goal of improving the health of the public.
Hours and duration are subject to discussions between the mentor and applicant. However, this will entail approximately 10 hours of work completing a value-add project at the mentor’s request.
Selection based on academic achievement and interview.
Applicants will want to have an interest in the area.
