Description

JA Company Of the Year is a startup program where students form a team to build a startup.

It is hosted by JA Asia Pacific, organized by JA Korea, and sponsored by FedEx, Express, HSBC, and Microsoft. Teenagers receive JA Startup Program education by JA Company and actually experience organizing a startup and selling products.

This competition is an educational opportunity for students to directly learn the steps of entrepreneurship and the principles of business management by organizing their own businesses and developing and operating products.

Students sign up for a seminar that occurs 4 times within several places in Korea. At least one member willing to participate in this competition need to attend at least one of the seminar. At the end of the seminar, further directions are provided on how to register a team.

Applicants fill out a form right after the seminar and submit to confirm their participation. Students are trained from April to June and go through middle evaluation. Only the teams that meet the standards can continue. Another evaluation is done right before the national round and ones who qualify can attend the national round. Top teams can participate in Asia round.

There is no application fee. However, students are reponsible for funding their startup buisness. Teams are given initial fund. Travel cost is excluded. Lodging is provided.

The students form a team to create a startup. Throughout the year, they work together to make a product, run a company, and learn to cooperate with others to successfully build a startup.

The participants are provided an initial fund when they create a startup and further education, intermediate evaluation, and national rounds are all provided. When they fulfill the standards, participants receive a certificate and have advantages in applying for other JA programs. Top two national teams can participate in Asia Pacific JA Company of the Year as a Korean representative, with all costs provided.

Students need attend education sessions and build a startup and sell their products. Students who have met the standards meet at national round at the end of the year to showcase their work and product.
