Description

This is a science competition organized by the Samsung Electronics with an aim to discover creative and challenging young people that will lead the future science Korea. It hopes to create a social atmosphere that promotes research within school and emphasizes technology.

Human technology papers encourages students to express their passion and become a driving force of academic passion for young scientists to cultivate creativity and further inspire research motivation.
In order to expand the base of research and development and to cultivate the soil of science Korea, we have expanded the scope of participation to university students, graduate students as well as high school students, domestic and abroad.

Through this competition, they aim to discover and nurture excellent human resources in the field of science and technology, and to lay the foundations for Korea to secure the world's best competitiveness and technology in the global environment.

Students first submit their abstract on website. Only the selected students submit their papers on online afterwards. Five judges evaluate a paper and the students are required to give presentation about their papers infront of seven judges.

Total 1,956 applicants applied in 2018 and only 119 teams were awarded. Teams are also awarded scholarships and an opportunity to tour Samsung Electronics facility.

There is no application fee (there is no announcement related to fee)

If a student is living outside of Korea, the competition provides travel cost but housing costs are excluded.

Minimum Technical Skill Needed

The competition is divided into 2 divisions: high school, university students and above. There are five different categories for high school: biology, chemistry, physics/earth sciences, math/statistics, environment/food/food safety. There are ten categories for the second division for university and above students.

Each teams submit their paper that has not been published elsewhere and it is evaluated by the judges.

The whole competition period is from Sep 2018 - Jan 2019. However, the participants only have to give one presentation. Other parts are all online submission.
