Backed by Amancio Ortega, founder of Zara and wealthiest Spaniard, the foundation's scholarship programme funds 11th grade studies in Canada and the USA for 4o ESO students at Spanish schools.
The initiative covers 100% of necessary costs entailed in studying abroad for one year, and rewards 600 students throughout Spain, of which 100 in Galicia.
Although primarily intended as language immersion, the scholarship can be valuable to Spanish students looking to go on to study at an American university, particularly if from a non-international environment.
Selection into the scholarship programme requires successful completion of English language tests as well as interview round.
