Spanish Geology Olympiad

A local chapter of the International Geology Olympiad, the first stage of the Spanish Geology Olympiad is held by mid-March in each Region, and consists of theoretical-practical tests bearing on the contents of the national Earth Science curriculum for the last 3 years of high school.

The best participants within each district will go on to the National championship, which is usually held around April, and where the 4 best participants are eligible for the International Geology Olympiad, held around September.

Students pursuing Earth Sciences as part of their school curriculum should be able to tackle the competition effectively.

Regulary study is advised; local phase winners will face greater time demands.

Candidates in their last three years of schooling must be registered by their schools.
