I'm organizing a book drive to combat the literacy gap and bring kids the treasures of books. Whereas in middle-income neighborhoods the ratio of books per child is 13 to 1, in low-income neighborhoods, the ratio is 1 age-appropriate book for every 300 children. Books are crucial to childhood development, yet so many kids lack access to books and as a result, they severely lag behind their privileged counterparts.
My book drive comprises of two kinds of donations: physical book donations and monetary donations. I'm collecting monetary donations through a Go Fund Me page (click here to check it out) and am setting up drop off locations for book donations. Though some people have mailed books to me, most of my donations have come from the Go Fund Me.
