Open to students in the 2º de bachillerato in any school in Madrid, this initiative of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid seeks to further the understanding of the importance of research amongst young learners.
Participants submit their research papers, in one of four pre-determined areas, and selected students proceed to present their research to a panel of experts at the university.
Prizes include a certified diploma of participation and a year's worth of credits at UCM.

ICMAT, the Institute for Sciences and Mathematics, organises education visits to businesses and research centres for students in their last year of ESO.
The Institute's goal is to provide students with insight into what working as a mathematical scientists is like, and inspire them to pursue careers in the field.
Participants spend four days at ICMAT, getting to know the institute's daily activities, attending workshops, meeting the researchers that work there and getting first hand accounts of their work.

The Technology Campus at ICAI, one of Spain's leading engineering schools, seeks to foster an interest in STEM fields among students aged 10-16; the long-term intent is to better their professional outcomes.
Teamwork is encouraged insofar as most projects are carried out in groups of 2 to 4 students, and the various courses of instruction seek to foster creativity and a positive work ethic.
Activities include introductions to Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical and Energy Engineering, Bioengineering, Programming and Web and Media Production.

The European Institute of Design's campus in Madrid offers brief introductory summer courses to rising fields such as 3D printing and modelling, and IoT and creative app programming.
These are in addition to their more 'core' summer course introductory offerings to fashion, interiorism and graphic design.
Note that these latter core offerings are more fully explored at IED's Barcelona campus.
Early participation in such a programme can set a foundation stone for further studies within the fields of programming and engineering.
